Meet the Neighbours: The Weekend FAQs

If you can’t find the answer you are looking for on this page, or you would like to discuss an issue with a member of the Quarantine team in more detail, please email us at info@qtine.com, call 0161 839 4392 or message us on Twitter or Facebook.

When will I receive details of the location for Saturday?

There are multiple starting points across Manchester city centre for the Saturday event. Your start location and time will be communicated to you by text and/or email on Friday 8 November.

If you haven’t received information about your meeting point by 3pm on Friday 8 November, please email us at info@qtine.com and we’ll get back to you as soon as possible - or alternatively message us on Twitter or Facebook.

Can I choose which excursion I go on?

All ticket buyers will be allocated an excursion by Quarantine. However, some excursions are not suitable for people with access needs, or for people with certain allergies or phobias. You will be asked about your access needs at the point of booking and we will allocate you to an excursion that is suitable for you.

Will I be sent on the same excursion as my friend/family member?

In the spirit of the weekend, it is possible that you will be sent on the excursion with a new group of neighbours. However, if you need to be allocated to the same excursion as anybody else (for example, they are your carer, or you are accompanying someone under the age of 18) then you can tell us this at the point of booking.

I can only make part of the event, can I still come?

As well as a whole weekend ticket, you can purchase a ticket for just the Saturday, just the Saturday evening gig, or just the Sunday. The Saturday day-time (up until the gig) and Sunday events are designed to be experienced in full.

Will latecomers be admitted?

Because of the nature of the Saturday daytime event, unfortunately, latecomers cannot be admitted. Please ensure you arrive promptly at the start location sent to you the day before.

Latecomers will be admitted to the gig and to the Sunday event at the discretion of the organisers.

Will the Saturday event start and end in the same location?

The Saturday event will take place in various locations across Manchester City Centre and it will begin and end in different locations.

Your start location and time will be communicated to you by text and/or email on Friday 8 November. The Saturday event will end at Sachas Hotel in the Northern Quarter. The address is: Tib St, Back Piccadilly, Manchester, M4 1SH.

Do I have to arrange my own transportation during the day on Saturday?

You must make you own way to your allocated start location (which will be sent to you via text/email the day before). Beyond that, any necessary transportation will be arranged by, and paid for by, the organisers.

How much of the event will take place outdoors?

Some of the excursions will take place outside, meaning up to 90 minutes spent outdoors. The rest of the day and the Sunday will take place indoors. If you have any issues with being outdoors, you can let us know this in the ‘access’ box at the point of booking tickets.

How far will I have to walk?

Some of the excursions will involve walking, up to a maximum of 45 minutes/2 miles, but most will involve less than this.

If you have access needs or limited mobility, you will be allocated to a suitable excursion. Please give us details of your access requirements at the point of booking.

Can I bring a child younger than 14?

We have issued age guidance of 14+ for the event. You are welcome to bring children under the age of 14 with you, however some elements of the weekend may be challenging or less engaging for someone under that age.

What should I bring with me for the Saturday event?

We recommend bringing a refillable water bottle, rain protection, some warm clothing and wearing comfortable shoes as much of the day will be spent on your feet. Otherwise, bring as little as possible. If you will have a large bag or suitcase with you, these can be left at Sachas Hotel in their luggage room prior to the event beginning.

Is photography allowed?

Yes, absolutely, but please be mindful that other guests may not wish to be photographed. Members of our team and Ladies of the Press will be taking photographs in order to document the event. Please make a member of our team aware if you do NOT wish to be documented (photo/video/audio recording).

Is there an interval during the Saturday event?

There is no fixed interval, however there will be opportunities to take time out during the afternoon session.

Do I need to bring food and drink with me – or will I need to purchase it?

On the Saturday event, lunch and dinner will be provided, and complimentary tea and coffee will be available until 6pm. The making and sharing of food will be integral to the event and we will endeavour to cater for all dietary requirements. During the dinner and evening gig, there will be a bar from which additional drinks can be purchased (payment by cash only).

On the Sunday, lunch will be provided, and the day will end with refreshments. Complimentary tea and coffee will be available throughout.

You are welcome to bring additional snacks with you if required.

I have dietary requirements, will I be catered for?

We will endeavour to cater for all dietary requirements. Please let us know about any special dietary needs at the point of booking.

I have access needs or limited mobility, is the event suitable for me?

The main event venue, Sachas Hotel, is accessible. There is a staff operated stair lift and an accessible toilet reached via a lift. During the Saturday event, some of the excursions may not be suitable for people with limited mobility. Please let us know about any access needs you have at the point of booking and we will allocate you to an excursion that is suitable for you.

Is the event suitable for someone with a hearing impairment?

Much of the event involves conversation and debate, and some of it will take place in noisy environments.

Is the event suitable for someone with a visual impairment?

The Saturday event involves travelling between locations. If you have a visual impairment, we recommend that you are accompanied by a companion. If you are booking to attend the Saturday with a companion, please let us know at the point of booking so that we can ensure you are allocated to the same excursion.
